Deaconess Annie B. Hicks was born on February 9th, 1916, to the late Tom and Minnie Turnbow in Marion Junction Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Minnie Turnbow, 8 Brothers, 1 sister Reverand Minnie Lee Tyes. She was married to the late Deacon Samuel Hicks Sr. To cherish her beautiful memory, she leaves 3 daughters Velma Bureller, Charlotte Hicks, Jurldine Hicks and 1 son Samuel Hicks Jr., 2 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of relatives. Special relative Ora Henderson Hicks and special Friend Elizabeth Hightower.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age and embarked on missionary work spreading the gospel and performing her duties as a Deaconess. She was the eldest member of the congregation at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with 83 years of service. Throughout her years of service, she was the recipient of many awards for her outstanding devotion and manner of workmanship. Annie served with love and compassion until her health failed and she was no longer able to do so. During her younger years she loved gardening and would share food grown in her garden with neighbors and friends.
She was just a kind spirit. Annie has left an indelible mark on so many that knew and loved her. Additionally, she loved sewing and flowers. Annie had impeccable wisdom that was a gift in its own right. Annie lived a long-blessed life living to be 107 years old. She transitioned into heaven on February 16th at Bath Manor Special Care Center where she had spent the past several months. The angels are waiting to welcome her.
