Charlene Clay was called home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2024, in Akron, Ohio. Born March 20, 1956, in Akron, Ohio, to her late mother, Flora Bell James, A 1975 graduate of Akron's North High School, Charlene enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career at Akron City Hospital, progressing from housekeeping to EKG technician before her retirement in 2012.
Charlene was admired not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her vibrant spirit and enthusiasm for life. She delighted in dancing, cooking, and savoring each moment. While her physical presence is missed, her memory will remain a cherished part of the lives of those who knew and loved her. Charlene was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Bell James; her sister, Cathy Bowen; and her brothers, Milton James, James Freeman, Joe Freeman, and Pete Freeman. Charlene is survived by her three children: Charles Clay (Amanda McIntosh), Nathanael Carter Jr., and Lamarcus Clay (DeAndra), and five grandchildren: Meshack Williams, Anyia Carter, Charles Clay Jr., Josiah Clay, and Gianna Clay and a host of relatives and friends.
