Clara Mae Sheppard (Davis), 76, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and devout Christian, returned to the Lord on January 9, 2025.

She was born in Burkville, Alabama on July 22, 1948 to the late Annie and Jonas Davis. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1969. She retired from Acro Tool & Die with over 30 years of service. Clara was a devoted Christian who cherished her Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. She attended Mount Liberty Baptist Church of Akron, Ohio, were she served as one of the Mothers’ of the Church, a Sunday School treasury staff, and choir member. Clara loved spending time with her family, doing word puzzles and playing games on her phone.

Clara was an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Jonas Davis; twin sister, Susie Stephens; sister-in-law, Janie Davis; brother-in-law, Vermon Sheppard, Herman Sheppard, and Willie Earl Sheppard. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, James Sheppard , step-son, Bedford (Sonya) Sheppard, sons, James Sheppard, Tramel Sheppard all of Akron, OH; Tyra Sheppard, daughter of Dayton, OH; sisters, Bernice (Clifford) Millings of Akron, OH and Brenda (Clifford) Curtis of Birmingham, Alabama; brothers, Earl (Thelma) Davis and Mack Davis of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-laws, Ruby Richardson, Isabelle (Ernest) McCalister, Sr., of Akron, Ohio; Sarah (Chester) Mae,of Fairhope, Alabama; Patricia McCary, of Plantersville, Alabama; Betsy Sheppard, of Baltimore, Maryland; brother-in-laws, John (Carlene) Sheppard, of Akron, Ohio; Jimmy Lee (Sarah Nell) and Sheppard, Kenny (Norma Jean) Sheppard, of Plantersville, Alabama; grandchildren, Austin and Sidni Sheppard of Cleveland, Ohio; Justice and Jurney Sheppard-Commodore of Dayton, Ohio; Ta’Neajha Sheppard of Akron; great-grandchildren, Emanuel and Mari’elle Sheppard-Commodore of Dayton, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A special thank you to all her family and friends who called and visit with her. We would also like to thank Grace House Comfort Care Center, Cleveland Clinic Medical and Hospice Services.

Services will be held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church on January 18th at 12pm. Visitation will be

at 11 am.
