Earnest Lee Bush, affectionately known as “Earnie”, was born on August 21, 1943 in Greenville, Mississippi. He was the first-born child of Pastor Leonard Bush Sr. and Mother Maggie Bush. He died on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic AGMC at 3:15 pm surrounded by family.
Earnie grew up in South Bend, Indiana and graduated from Riley High School. He moved to Akron, Ohio and attended The Great Lakes Trucking School, completing his training in July1971. Earnest worked as a long-distance truck driver for 20 years. He also worked for the National Park Services in Cuyahoga Valley, retiring after 25 years of service. Earnest also served in the Air Force for 22 years in active and reserve service.
Earnie was a very laidback guy. He had a reel-to-reel recording system and a large collection of LPs. Earnie could often be found listening to music. He loved listening to jazz. Some of his favorite artists were Grover Washington, George Benson, and Boney James. Earnie also enjoyed watching TV. He would watch sports, western shows, and documentaries.
He met and married Annette Greenwood on October 22, 1977. To this union was born a beautiful daughter named Rachel. He also had a son, Pastor Travis Bush.
Earnest was proceeded in death by parents, Pastor Leonard and Maggie Bush Sr., siblings: Superintendent Henry Bush, Dorothy Ann Carter, Leonard Bush Jr., and Dennis Ray Bush.
He is survived by wife, Annette Bush, daughter: Rachel Bush of Akron, OH, son: Pastor Travis (Michele) Bush of Fullerton, CA, grandchildren: Aaron and Christian of Akron, OH, Kristen, Karsten, Travis Jr. and Skylar all of Fullerton, CA., siblings:Patricia Bishop and Kenneth Bush of South Bend, IN, and Cheryl Bush Mays of Mesa, AZ, sister-in-law: Beverly Bush of South Bend, IN, best friend: Eugene King, special grand-dog:Oreo, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
