John Rucker

John Dewitt Rucker went home to be with the Lord on December 3,2020 at Akron City Hospital.  John was born to Gloria Rucker and Derrick Mosley on December 29, 1981 in Akron, Ohio.

John was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio.  He attended Garfield High School.  Throughout the years John did several jobs.  The most rewarding and probably challenging job was when he was a stay at home dad.  He handled that job better than some mothers could.  Taking care of the cooking, cleaning, and making sure all the kids were good.  For the last four years of his life he used all his odd job skills to work with his close friend Lou London at his business Really Genie where they remodeled kitchens and bathrooms.

John was known to close friends as “J Ruck” or “Jon Jon “, but to his family he was just John.  He was a devoted family man starting from when it was just his mother Gloria, sister Benita, and himself.  Between John and Benita they had 18 children, 12 being Johns, also 4 grandchildren between the two. Making the close three into a now very big family.

He brought that same closeness to the family he created.  He adored his fiancé Aleasha of 12 years.  Learning to pray together, love right, and grow into maturity.  Together they were inseparable.

Johns kids gave him so much joy.  He had 12 children and no matter the number he gave his whole heart, all the love and support to show each and every one how much he loved being their dad.  He was a hands on dad and would do anything for them.

For everyone John was fun and the life of the party.  He thought he could still dance like the kids.  John also had the quality of a counselor.  He was always there with a shoulder to lean on, a ear to listen.  He was the go to guy for all his close friends.

John is preceded in death by his daughter Amaria Covington.  John is survived by his mother Gloria Rucker, father Derrick Mosley, fiancé Aleasha, daughters Brekyah, Keairra, Kaylene, Armani, Jonai, and Carolyn.  Sons Javeon, John Jr, Jahase, Johan, Chevyion, and Breon, granddaughter Journi.  Sisters Benita, DaVonne, and Lydia.  Brothers Trimaine, Damion, and Derrick Jr (Meagan).  Special father Larry Davis.  Special niece Tyrisha.  John has a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
