Richard Wilson

Richard Calvin Wilson was born to the late Ellis and Geraldine Wilson on August 9, 1952. Rick was a devoted son to his mother and father. He attended Hower High School’s commercial art program and graduated in 1971.

Rick accepted Christ and joined The House of the Lord, at that time called House of Prayer for All People on Thornton Street in 1978 and has been a member ever since. Rick designed and built the wood signage that stood on the corner of Diagonal Rd & Frederick Blvd. for many years. Rick designed a lot of the signage in use at THOTL in addition to other apparel and logos.

In August of 1971 Rick was hired into Clarkins advertising department. After several years he went to Camelot Music in North Canton where he was in charge of all P.O.P. merchandise and started a Sign Department. After 18 years he started his own company called Design's Unlimited of Akron. Rick was a workaholic until he retired.

One of his hobbies was fishing and the other was landscaping. His yard was his pride and joy. He was faithful to the Cleveland Browns. Loved dancing with his wife Linda whom he referred to as "Queen” and loved traveling with friends. Rick never met a stranger; he gave strangers rides, money, and even the shirt off his back, he was a people person.

Rick and Linda met when they were young, he was 14 years old and she was 12, they married in 1973 and had been a loving husband and father to his best friend and wife, Linda and to their children.

Rick leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda; daughters, Tia Ferguson, Melinda (John) Smith , Diedra Clarke all of Akron OH; sons, Rick (Karla) of Miami FL and Myric of Akron OH; grandchildren, Angel, Benicio and Bella of Miami FL and Anieca, Imani, Kayla, Tyshawn, Olivia, Bella, Lidia, Sophie all of Akron, OH and great grandchildren, Zara and Koby Calvin of Akron OH and a host of friends and family.
