Valerie Buchanan

September 6, 1980 — October 26, 2021

Valerie B. Buchanan was born September 6, 1980, to her mother; Opal Buchanan and John Paige, in Cleveland, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident. Valerie was the youngest of ten children and loved by all. Valerie gained her wings surrounded by her family Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Valerie humbly accepted Christ into her life at the age of 27. She attended the Cleveland Municipal School District and graduated from Glenville High School. Valerie began her battle at the early age of 15, one battle after another. As each battle became more of a challenge she fought as a true soldier and never gave up.

In 2007, Valerie started employment at the Rocky River Adult Day Center where she enjoyed attending everyday no matter how she felt or what her challenges were at the time. Valerie was hard working and dedicated. In 2019 due to cutbacks her employment came to an end. She always talked about returning to work, but her challenges would not allow. Valerie used that time to make the best out of what life had to offer her. She enjoyed going shopping, getting her hair, nails and make-up done. She also spent a lot of time watching movies and most importantly being with family and walking. When Valerie was asked why she spends so much time walking, she said “It clears my mind and gives me time to think about things.”

Valerie has made an impact in the lives of many. She made people really stop and think, she made them understand the circle of life. Anyone who knew her, knew that she always managed to see the good in her pain and suffering. Valerie was lent to us by God, and He has decided that her earthly journey was complete. Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Buchanan; father, John Paige; sister, Lillian Buchanan.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her pride and joy, son; Jamaray Buchanan; sisters, Robina Buchanan, Diane Buchanan, Carla Buchanan (Percy), and her twin sister, Vanessa Buchanan (Troy); brothers, Michael Buchanan (Patricia), Ronald Buchanan (Jeanette), Stacy Buchanan (Lisa), Eric Buchanan and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
