Velma Bureller (Hicks) was born September 14th 1942, to the late Samuel and Annie Hicks in Akron OH. She is preceded in death by both her parents Samuel Hicks sr. and Annie Hicks, former husbands Andrew Bureller and James Jackson. She Leaves to cherish her memories 1 brother Samuel Hicks jr. 2 sisters Charlotte Hicks and special sister Jurldine Hicks daughter Marguerite Jackson 2 grandchildren Sherrod Oliver and Antonio Jackson 3 great grandchildren and a host of relatives.
Velma was a graduate from South High school class of 1964. After high school she attended Washington beauty Academy and was gainfully employed at Albrecht Acme click where she worked until retirement. She accepted Christ at an early age and love attending church and Sunday school. She was also a member of the mass choir for many years throughout her tenure at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Velma had a harmonious relationship with the Lord. She continue on this path, of spiritual engagement with her church activities until her health failed her and she was no longer able to do so.
Velma was a kind and generous person who never spoke a harsh word to anyone and was always willing to give to others. She was quite a fashionista who loved to dress in her hats and superb outfits. Velma endured an extending period of health issues and transition to her heavenly resting place on November 5th, 2023, at Bath Manor Special Care Center after a lengthy stay. The angels have received her at the golden gates.
